Specification

How Cheetos is supplied

Format availability is allocation-dependent, so the exact specification always travels on the pro-forma invoice rather than being fixed on a web page. Tell us the destination and the label rule you work to, and we confirm which market version is on offer before you commit.

The flavour list that did not travel

An importer sends us a flavour list copied from a website in another hemisphere and asks for a price. It is a reasonable thing to do and it almost never works, because extruded cheese snacks are among the most locally built products in ambient FMCG. The shapes, the seasonings, the names on the bag and the declaration on the back are set by the market a plant supplies, not by the trademark on the front. That is the single most useful thing to understand before buying this line at volume, and it is the reason this page reads differently from the rest of our snacks range.

Extruded snacks are built for the mouths nearest the plant

Cheese-flavoured extrusion is cheap to move a short distance and expensive to move a long one, so it is made close to the markets that eat it. Producing regions consequently develop their own house style. The shape family differs — sticks, puffs, balls, rings, twists are not the same product in different sizes, they are different products. The seasoning differs, sometimes considerably, because a cheese profile that reads as correct in one market reads as wrong in another. The pack graphics differ. The names differ, and a name that has been in a market for twenty years carries recognition that does not transfer to anything else.

None of that is a defect. It is how the category is designed to work. But it makes provenance a purchase-blocking question rather than a compliance footnote, and it means the honest answer to some enquiries is that we are the wrong supplier — which we would rather establish in the first exchange than after a booking.

What that means when you write the purchase order

What we hold is EU stock, in the manufacturer's own sealed packaging, carrying the European ingredient list, allergen declaration and nutrition panel in the languages of the market it was produced for. Nothing is re-boxed, relabelled or over-stickered here.

Two consequences follow, and both are practical. First, if your customers know a different market's range, this stock will not quietly substitute for it, and a retailer whose shoppers expect one shape and one seasoning will not accept another. Second, a customs entry written against one ingredient declaration does not clear against a different one, so the declaration on the pack has to be the declaration in the file. Describe what you want by shape and by taste rather than by a name you have read somewhere, tell us the destination, and the sourcing market and pack language for the consignment offered are stated on the quotation. The batch codes printed on the cartons tie back, through our own records, to the lot we bought them in — so it is a claim you can test on your own receiving bay instead of accepting on trust. Our authenticity and compliance position sets out how that traceability is maintained.

Texture is the second axis, and it is not cosmetic

Before flavour comes the split between the dense extruded stick and the aerated puff. To a shopper that is a preference. To anyone loading a container it is two different products. The stick tolerates handling, stacks predictably and behaves like a normal bagged snack. The puff is aerated almost to the point of weightlessness, deforms under a load the stick would shrug off, and takes up an amount of space entirely out of proportion to what is inside the bag.

Most fixtures need both, and the ratio is a ranging decision rather than a supply one. Where a market carries a heat segment, the hot variants usually sit alongside rather than instead of the standard seasoning, and buyers building out that part of the shelf often price the Takis listing on the same enquiry so the rolled and extruded formats arrive together. What is running at any moment follows each plant's own promotional cycle, so an offer describes stock we have actually been allocated rather than a list that would be out of date by next quarter.

Heat, humidity and a seasoned surface

Here a seasoned extruded snack parts company with a plain one, and the fragility involved is chemical rather than mechanical. The flavour sits on the outside of the piece, carried in something that does respond to warmth. Heat and damp in the stow soften the texture the whole product is bought for, and once the coating starts to move it prints itself on the inside of the film, where a shopper sees it before the bag has been opened.

The countermeasures are dull and effective. Keep the cartons inboard, clear of the doors and clear of anything that gets hot. Run moisture control on tropical legs. Store on dunnage and out of the sun at both ends of the trip. Treat a shared box with more care than a whole one, since a part-load is pulled apart and rebuilt by people with no view of what is inside your cases. Name the port and the month, and the plan is drawn against those rather than against whatever is quickest to pick here.

Formats, quantities and dating

Pack size predicts the counter more reliably than seasoning does. Small bags go where a purchase is made in ten seconds — tills, forecourts, kiosks, vending. Sharing packs answer family and value trade. Multipacks are a grocery and cash-and-carry article. Any container built entirely from one of the three leaves margin somewhere it did not have to, so tell us how your volume splits and a ratio comes back with the offer.

Case counts and pallet builds are not published here because a puff pallet and a stick pallet are not the same object, and what can genuinely be loaded in a given week is more useful to you than a table. Remaining shelf life on loading is treated the same way: name the minimum your entry and your customers require and the dating available is confirmed in writing before dispatch. Both are settled on the pro-forma, which is the only document quantities are fixed against.

Terms, ports and the export file

Iguazu Trading is a trading name of Iguazu Fragancias SL and loads from Madrid, an inland point — EXW Madrid means our warehouse rather than a quay. Valencia is roughly 355 km away and Barcelona roughly 620 km, with Algeciras as the transhipment alternative and Coslada for rail. FOB, CFR, CIF and DAP are quoted; DDP is not offered as standard. We export worldwide and publish no market list.

Every consignment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list, export declaration and transport document, plus a Certificate of Origin and an EUR.1 movement certificate where a preferential agreement covers your destination. Since the cases are the producer's own, whatever your broker asks for by way of allergen text or a nutrition panel is the manufacturer's own, in the language set the offer names. Our documentation guide walks through the full file in the order a customs entry usually asks for it. We are an independent distributor of genuine brand-owner stock and hold no brand appointment.

What we confirm about the consignment offered

Because origin is the question that decides this listing, it is the question the offer answers first. A Cheetos pro-forma names the sourcing market of the stock being offered, the shapes and seasonings actually allocated, the pack language, the formats, the quantities, the dating available at loading, the price and the Incoterm. Nothing is loaded against a figure or a specification that does not appear on it, and nothing is substituted after signature without a written amendment.

If the answer is that the range you want is not made in Europe, you will get that answer at enquiry stage rather than at discharge. It costs us a quotation and saves you a container. Trade accounts — importers, distributors, wholesalers, retail groups and re-exporters — are opened through wholesale registration, which runs alongside the first quotation rather than ahead of it. Enquiries on listed brands are answered within one business day.
